1 Minute A Day for 1 Workweek

Life can be hectic. Sometimes we become so consumed by the demands of life that we forget to take time for ourselves - time to care for our bodies and emotional wellness. We've gathered a few ideas for helping you set aside just 60 seconds every day to take care of your mental and emotional wellbeing. Try it out! And hopefully it will become a daily habit to capture a quick moment all for yourself.

Day 1. Close Your Eyes

Sit or lay still for one whole minute with your eyes closed. Simply take a breath, slow down just long enough to check in with yourself and set your intentions for the day. If you feel any pain in your body or if you're feeling tired, take notice of it. The simple act of identifying how you're feeling can sometimes be enough to change your mood or to make a mental note to be more gentle on your body today.

Day 2. Setting Intentions

Take a minute in the morning to write down how you are feeling when you wake up and what you want to feel like by the end of your day. Remember that you have control over your own mental well-being and setting intentions every day is like setting a goal. Check in at the end of the day and ask yourself, "was I successful in reaching my goal today?" If the answer is, "no", that's ok. Much like picking up a new habit, it can take time to adjust. Try again tomorrow.

Day 3. Be Grateful

Spend 60 seconds writing down as many things as you can to be grateful for in your life. Carry this with you all day and look back at it when you need an emotional pick-me-up.

Day 4. Hugs

Give someone close to you a hug and hold them for one whole minute. It doesn't sound like much but connecting with someone can give you a spiritual boost and it will make your friend feel warm and fuzzy too. This world is filled with love and you have plenty to spare!

Day 5. Love Yourself

Spend a minute speaking out loud all of the things you love about yourself. It can be anything from how much you love your haircut to what a loyal and supportive friend you are. Don't just mutter the words. The power comes from feeling the emotion that comes with it.

Every day is a new day and a new opportunity to make each day meaningful. In a chaotic world, we need a daily reminder that the world is filled with amazing people, including you!  Take a moment to recognize it.
